Engineered hardwood is created from up to five layers of real hardwood which are stacked and glued together under heat and pressure. The result is a floor that can stand up to a wider range of conditions than other floor types. This means that it can be installed on all levels of a home.
Many customers choose to install this in basements and lower levels because of its higher resistance to moisture and because of the engineered hardwood's ability to e installed on most sub-floor types.
Hardwood floors of any type should not, however, be installed in places where there is likely to be a lot of water such as a bathroom.
